MOTIF Team Serves Up Community Support Through RMHC’s Home for Dinner Program

A warm meal may seem like a simple gesture, but for families facing medical challenges it can provide comfort, relief, and one less thing to worry about.

Recently a group of MOTIF team members supported families staying at Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan by participating in the organization’s Home for Dinner program in Saskatoon.

Our volunteers spent the afternoon planning, preparing, and serving a Taco Tuesday dinner for families staying at Ronald McDonald House while their children received medical care. The menu featured a build-your-own taco bar with all the fixings, along with tater tots, chips and salsa, Mexican coleslaw, and dessert.

While the meal itself was important, the experience served as a reminder of how meaningful simple acts of kindness can be.

Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan provides a home away from home for families who must travel for their child’s medical treatment. Through programs like Home for Dinner, volunteers help ease the burden on families by providing a warm, home-cooked meal after what can often be long and challenging days.

Our connection with Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan extends beyond this volunteer opportunity. RMHC-SK has been a valued MOTIF client for many years, and we’ve been honoured to support their mission as their branded merchandise partner. Having the opportunity to collaborate with an organization that makes such a meaningful impact in our province made this experience especially rewarding for our team.

Following our visit, the RMHC team shared their appreciation:

“Our families truly appreciate and enjoy coming back to the House to a prepared meal, and tacos are always a hit.”

They also noted that all of the meals placed in the Community Pantry fridge were gone by 7:30 p.m., demonstrating just how valued and needed these meals are.

Another message from the RMHC team reflected the impact of our volunteers’ efforts:

“We are very thankful for groups like yourselves that give of their time, energy and resources to help others.”

Community Engagement at MOTIF

Community involvement has always been an important part of who we are at MOTIF. Through the MOTIF Outreach Program (MOP), we actively seek opportunities to support organizations that make a positive impact in our communities. Whether it’s partnering with local charities, supporting fundraising initiatives, donating products, or volunteering our time, we believe that giving back is about building genuine connections and helping where we can. Programs like Home for Dinner allow us to put our values into action and reflect our motto: Create and Appreciate.

Our Biggest Takeaway

One of the most meaningful takeaways from the day was seeing firsthand how much a simple meal can mean to families navigating difficult circumstances. The experience reinforced the importance of RMHC-SK’s mission and reminded us that support doesn’t always require grand gestures, sometimes it’s as simple as providing a warm meal.

We are incredibly proud of the MOTIF team members who contributed their time to planning, shopping, cooking, serving, and cleaning up after the event. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and generosity helped create a welcoming dining experience for families staying at the House.
